Park Hills has added a Community Garden located in lower Trolley Park.  It is being operated this year as a pilot program through the Parks Committee so we can determine the needs and interest of our community.  The gardens consist of 6 raised beds and contain various vegetables and flowers:  heirloom tomatoes, corn, squash, herbs (rosemary, parsley, chives, oregano, basil), eggplant, beans, cabbage, cosmos, zinnias, climbing cucumbers, sugar baby watermelons, strawberries, and raspberries.  The produce will be made available in a Farmers Market style in Trolley Park.   A lot of work has gone into the garden to date including the construction of the raised beds, filling with soil, planting, watering, and tending the produce.  Due to our limited area, limited funds, and number of streets/residents it is not practicable to offer a raised bed per family or street.  As we evaluate the process and learn more about our community’s interests and needs,

we will be responsive and flexible.  It is our hope that this will be a positive and healthful addition to our neighborhood.
